Presentation of PDSH

PDSH, founded in 1990 under the leadership of the economist Gramoz Pashko, won 75 of the 250 seats in Parliament in the 1991 elections. It won the 1992 elections and its new leader, Sali Berisha, who conquered the presidency, formed the first non-Communist government since 1944. The elections of 1996 where once again won by the party, but the popular revolt due to the scandal on the financial pyramids that had ruined many Albanians forced the government to resign. The elections that followed in 1997 gave the victory to the Socialist Party and DPSH became an opposition party.
In the 2005 election, the party won 56 of the 140 seats of the Parliament; it formed a colaition with smaller parties, reaching 79 seats and supporting the government led by Sali Berisha.

The party symbols are prescribed in the party statutes as follows:

Simboli i PDSH përbëhet nga gërmat "P" e "D" me ngjyrë të bardhë mbi fushë blu, ku e para është vendosur brenda të dytës në mënyrë të stilizuar. Ky simbol përdoret nga organet përfaqësuese të PDSH ose me autorizim të tyre.

Neni 6
Flamuri i PDSH është me ngjyrë blu në qendër të të cilit ndodhet simboli i saj.

A photo taken during a demonstration held in Tirana on 1 July 2005 confirms that the flag is blue with the party symbol, without lettering.

On 4 July 2005, André Coutanche reported a photo taken on 1 July 2005 by Arben Celi (Reuters), showing the official flag of PDSH and a variant, light blue with the party emblem in blue.
